Olivier Mourault

A native of Sceaux, France, trumpeter Olivier Mourault studied music in the Paris region, notably in Versailles, and Rueil-Malmaison under Éric Aubier. He continued his studies at the Schola Cantorum in Basel, Switzerland, where he specialized in historically informed performance and earned a master’s degree in performance in Jean-François Madeuf’s class.
As part of his degree, he wrote a thesis on the instrumental versatility of trumpeters during the baroque era. He then earned a master’s degree in education, specializing in historical horn and trumpet, at the Schola. Olivier Mourault performs regularly on the trumpet or horn with ensembles such as A Nocte Temporis, Musica Gloria, Hemiolia, Los Elementos, Abendmusik Basel, Les Épopées, Les Talens Lyriques, and Consort Musica Vera. He also performs on the slide trumpet with his Renaissance music ensemble, Par le Regart. In his spare time, he is an amateur violinist.
